Dirk's Draw Downhill Race

Sponsored by KONA

We are excited for the second annual Dirk's Draw Downhill Race to this year's Black Hills Fat Tire Festival. At just under 1000 vertical feet, this newly constructed IMBA trail runs from the tower ridge summit to the base of Cowboy Hill incorporating drops, jumps, rocks, and technical sections. Whether you are in-it-to-win-it or compete with your friends for bragging rights, the Dirk's Draw downhill course on Hansen-Larsen Memorial Park offers a great venue for racers and spectators alike.

With high speeds and technical terrain, proper protection is strongly encouraged! FULL FACE HELMETS ARE REQUIRED! The rest is up to your discretion as additional protection typically consists of a chest protector, neck brace, and knee, shin, and elbow guards. If you plan on purchasing protection for this or any downhill event, make sure to check with the manufacturer to select the correct size.

Race Categories are as follows for DIRK'S DRAW ONLY.

Cat 1 (current Expert and Semi-pro): Racing skills, strength, race experience, and stamina have reached an exceptional level; racing is very competitive. Riders must have a racing age of at least 15 to race as a Category 1 in the endurance disciplines.

Cat 2 (current Sport): Racing reflects improved skills, strength, race experience, and stamina. A rider must advance to Cat 1 after placing in the top five in five races.

Cat 3 (current Beginner): Racing is for the entry-level rider. Racers have limited racing experience and have a lower fitness and skill level than in Category 2. After placing in the top five in five races, a Cat 3 racer must advance to Cat 2.
