NEW for 2015** Looking for suggested trails, but not necessarily going on a guided tour? Sign up for the Poker Run. This event will give you suggested trail loops with points of interest. Ride at least 5, take a selfie at the designated locations and check back in at HQ to receive your poker hand. One card will be awarded per location per packet purchased. Don’t worry if you want a guided tour, guides will be available upon request. Best hand wins a prize!
Epic 60 ride
Enjoy 60 miles of the super tough Tatanka 100 race at a slightly slower pace. Known as Trail No. 89, the Centennial Trail is a lasting legacy of South Dakota’s 1989 centennial year of statehood. It’s 111-mile length explores the diversity of South Dakota. This is the longest trail in the Black Hills. You’ll experience old growth forests, sunny meadows dotted with wildflowers, towering granite crags and remote canyons. With luck you’ll see turkeys, deer, elk, mountain goats, and bighorn sheep. It has everything: fast-flowing downhills, steep, short climbs, boulder hopping, creek crossings, step-ups, step-downs, and some of the most incredible scenery in the Black Hills. This advanced to expert level ride will cover two days: Saturday, June 20 – Ride from the Centennial Trail Alkali Creek Trailhead/Campground to Centennial Trail Dalton Lake Trailhead/Camground, about 30 miles Sunday, June 21 – Ride from Centennial Trail Dalton Lake Trailhead to Mickelson Trail Rochford Trailhead, about 30 miles
Van leaves at 7:00 a.m. each morning from Founders Park. Van-supported with water and lunch provided. Each rider should carry a water, patch kit, tube, pump, and rain gear. Cost: $45.00 (Pre-registration required on or before May 31st.) Register Now
Bikes, Brews & BBQ
The best part of the mountain biking community is the camaraderie. This year we have partnered with Main Street Square on the corner of Main Street & Sixth Street in the heart of Downtown Rapid City. Come down to this social for the Hill Climb Awards and stick around for a Feature Film presentation at dusk. Brews and BBQ will be onsite for purchase. This event has free admission and it is open to the public.
Fun at Founders
The place to be on Saturday Night is at Founders Park. Stick around the festival ground following all the races because the Black Hills Fat Tire Festival has added a beer garden onsite. Awards for Saturday’s individual races and the crowning of King and Queen will be presented. Live music and an adult bike rodeo will top off this evening’s entertainment.
STRIDER Adventure Zone
Provided by Scheels All Sports and Rapid City Parks & Recreation. This safe and friendly environment encourage kids of all abilities from 18 months and up to test ride a STRIDER and play with other kids, while improving and developing fundamental bike handling skills. Our expanded adventure zone will appeal to every level STRIDER rider. Demos will be available. This is a free activity.
STRIDER Group Ride
Bring your STRIDER rider over to the festival HQ and participate in this family friendly group activity that kids and adults of all abilities can be apart of. Bring your own STRIDER or demos will be available. We will ride from Founders Park across the bridge to the North side of the creek; take the Nature Trail to the STRIDER Nature Loop and back. Approximately 1.5 miles total length which includes the Nature Trail Loop. This is a free activity, but you will need to pre-register at HQ by 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

Family Fun Ride
The family fun ride and treasure hunt is an event families and children of all ages will enjoy. This ride will begin at the festival headquarters in Founders Park and will take you on a tour of the Rapid City bike path for an exciting treasure hunt and the opportunity to discover the beautiful scenery and parks Rapid City has to offer. Whether you wish to take your time and enjoy the area or you are set on being the first to discover all of the hidden treasure locations, this ride is a great way to spend time with your family and have fun on your bikes or on foot. Maps will be provided at the starting point. Be prepared to get creative and decipher the hidden meanings in the map! This event is brought to you by YFS Boys Health & Fatherhood First Programs.

Beer-muda Triangle Raffle
What is the Beer-Muda Triangle? Very simply, if you purchase food, drink, gear, etc. from any of our sponsors while in Rapid City for the Black Hill Fat Tire Festival, you can turn in your receipts to the Festival Headquarters, and you will receive tickets that are eligible for raffle prizes. Make sure you keep those tickets separate from all other drawings and attend the Barbeque on Saturday evening where the drawings will be held. You know you’re going to eat, drink and purchase bike equipment while you’re in town. Why not eat, drink and buy with our sponsors?
